Every jewelry owner must learn how to clean gold for keeping his or her gold in the best condition. One of the options is to give the gold to a jewelry shop where there is a risk of gold theft. The shops also charge a lot for the job. The other option is to clean it at home. But before cleaning at home, one needs the essential ingredient baking soda. One must, therefore, learn the art of cleaning gold at home using baking soda and some other ingredients.
How To Clean Gold Using Vinegar And Baking Soda?
It is easy to wash gold with the help of this unique mixture of vinegar and baking soda. One needs to take three spoons of soda and one spoon of vinegar and mix them. Mix them until a thick paste-like toothpaste is ready. The next step is to apply the paste on the gold with the help of a cotton swab. A cotton swab is soft, therefore useful, and does not cause any damage to the gold. Now keep the gold immersed in paste in a plastic cup to prevent any chemical reaction. Now pour some vinegar on the gold to soak it entirely and let it sit for almost five minutes. After five minutes, wash the gold in warm water and dry it using a soft cloth. One must not use this mixture to clean gold that contains gemstones or pearls. One must, however, be careful while washing the gold.
How To Clean The Gold Using Dish Soap And Baking Soda?
One can also use dish soap instead of vinegar to clean gold. Mix one cup of warm water, one teaspoon of dish soap, and one teaspoon of baking soda. Dissolve all the ingredients in the water and leave it for a few minutes. Now submerge the gold in the solution and let it stay in it for around thirty minutes. Now gently scrub the gold with the help of a brush and rinse under running water. Gold jewelry is delicate; therefore, one must stay careful while brushing. One must, moreover, use the brush only if some dirt remains in the jewelry. One must also avoid scrubbing the jewelry too hard. The solution is, however, not suitable for jewelry that contains pearls.
How To Clean Gold Using Boiling Water And Baking Soda?
Before using the mixture, cover the bowl with aluminum foil. Keep the bright side up and also ensure that the old piece touches the foil. Now pour soda on the gold and immerse it in the mixture. Pour boiling water on the gold and submerge the gold piece. Let the gold piece be in the mix for around five minutes. After five minutes, rinse the gold under running water and dry it. One must, however, not use the mixture of gold that contains glued pearls or stones.
Gold is a precious metal and therefore needs care and attention. One can easily take care of the gold at home, but be careful while cleaning.
